The required 75 class hours of broker courses must be completed at real estate school approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in the following manner:
Mandatory Course (45 hours)
Brokerage Administration
Contracts and Conveyances
Advanced Principles 2000
Please note: EVERY approved real estate school offers the three Mandatory courses above**
Elective Courses (30 hours - any two listed)
Real Estate Appraisal
Property Management
Financing
Sales and Brokerage
Farm Property Management
Real Property Insurance
Other approved elective
Please note:ALL approved real estate schools can choose any two Elective courses to total the 75 required course hours**
TUITION
$165 per course. Transcripts will be forwarded within three weeks upon the completion of the course. A $10 service charge will be imposed on all replacement transcripts.
The review session is $65.
SCHOOL POLICIES
Attendance is required at all sessions. If more than 10% of any course is missed, the student must make up the lost hours in order to receive credit. Course completion requires at least an average of 75% on all tests/exams. All students must be high school graduates or equivalent (GED).
CLASS CANCELLATIONS
The IAR Licensing and Training Center reserves the right to cancel classes that do not meet attendance requirements. All prepaid registration fees will be refunded.
REFUND POLICY
All fees will be refunded for written cancellations received at least 72 hours prior to the start of the event. There are no refunds or transfers after the start of the class.
REPEAT PRIVILEGES
All IAR students may repeat the course within six months on a space available basis at any of our locations at no additional tuition cost.
REQUIREMENT FOR LICENSE
Salespersons must be of at least 21 years of age, and must have successfully completed a 45-hour Transaction Course, be sponsored by a licensed broker, and hold a high school education or equivalent (GED).
The minimum age of 21 years shall be waived for any person seeking a license who has attained the age of 18 and can provide evidence of the successful completion of at least four semesters of post-secondary school study as a full time student or the equivalent with major emphasis on real estate courses, in a school approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
To become a broker, an individual must either be an attorney at law or have successfully completed 120 classroom hours, 45 of which shall be those hours required to obtain a salesperson’s license.
