Pre-Licensing Broker

General requirements for obtaining a Broker’s license

  1. Be at least 21 years of age
  2. Hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent
  3. Have a sponsoring managing broker or firm
  4. Successfully complete a total of 90 credit hours of pre-license education
  5. Pass a state exam
  6. Complete post-license education before your first renewal


General post-licensing requirements for Brokers

Brokers are required to complete a 30-hour state post-license requirement before their first renewal.

  • Upon completion of the 75-hr. and 15-hr. scheduled dates and passing both final exams with a 75% or better is required to receive a transcript. The transcript will allow you to call AMP at 800-345-6559 to schedule a state final exam date.
  • Additionally, you will need to complete the 30-hr. post-licensing course (classroom/homestudy) before your first renewal of passing the 90-hr. state final exam. You will be required to pass the 30-hr. course exam and will receive a transcript of completion. A state final exam is not required.
  • Total 120 hours is required to officially become a Broker.
  • Broker - 21 years of age, be a high school graduate or equivalent (G.E.D.), required to have successfully complete a 90-hour Pre-Licensing Course, have passed the state exam and then sponsored by a licensed managing broker.
  • The minimum age of 21 years shall be waived for any person seeking a license who has attained the age of 18 and can provide evidence of the successful completion of at least four semesters of post-secondary school study as a full-time student or the equivalent, with major emphasis on real estate courses, in a school approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
  • Material and courses are updated to ensure that instruction is meaningful, relevant, and timely. Our program is geared to adult learning.
