National Association of REALTORS® Ethics Requirement
Quadrennial Periods
(Two-and-a-half hours of Code of Ethics training required)
REALTOR® member of the association shall be required to complete quadrennial ethics training of not less than two hours and thirty minutes of instructional time. This requirement will be satisfied upon presentation of documentation that the member has completed a course of instruction conducted by this or another association, the State Association of REALTORS®, the National Association of REALTORS®, or any other recognized educational institution or provider which meets the learning objectives and minimum criteria established by the National Association of REALTORS® from time to time. The quadrennial periods are as follows:
January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2008
January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2012
January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2016
1. MORe Education Dept. recommends REALTORS® take an Ethics course as part of their state continuing education requirement. Not only will you receive “elective” state continuing education credit; the Ethics course will coincide with NAR’s requirement.

2. Visit REALTOR.org. Click on "Education" in left column and then "Code of Ethics Training". This is a complimentary 2.5 hour online course, after which you will take an exam. An e-mail of completion will be sent to you and your local association.
For new MORe members, completing the one-day orientation class will comply with the NAR mandate for that particular quadrennial period.
Failure to satisfy this requirement shall be considered a violation of a membership duty for which REALTOR® membership shall be suspended until such time as the training is completed.
