On March 31, 2009, The Romanian Association of Real Estate Agencies (A.R.A.I.) (bilateral partner of the National Association of REALTORS®) launched the first association based Multiple Listing Service System (MLS) in Romania. The Romanian MLS requires an exclusive marketing contract to list properties. This is the first association based MLS in Eastern Europe. The NAR bilateral partnership agreement requires a code of ethics and a commitment to high standards and best practices.
At the launch, representing NAR were Norman Flynn, NAR Regional Coordinator for Eastern Europe and Jana Herdova, NAR Vice-Chair of International Networks Advisory and NAR President's Liaison to the Czech Republic. The Romanian MLS currently has approximately 50 members; however, after the launch, a growth in membership is anticipated.
