Ethics in Real Estate

This course will provide the student with an up-to-date look at the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics.  The course provides a history and study of the Code of Ethics and Pathways to Professionalism.  In addition, the student will learn the process of filing an ethics complaint and request for arbitration and how it is adjudicated within the local board/association.  Finally, the student will review case intrerpretations authorized by the National Association of REALTORS® and learn how the cases were evaluated and resolved.

A staff member with Mainstreet since 2003, Kate is the Vice President of Professionalism and Career Development. Kate’s responsibilities include providing strategic management for the Professional and Ethical Practices and Education Departments as well as for Commercial and Global Services, and the Senior Services and YPN Committees. Kate develops and executes programs and services related to the mission of the Organization in accordance with the strategic goals set by the Board of Directors. Overall, Kate helps Mainstreet REALTORS® succeed in their business, while keeping them professional. Kate serves as the staff liaison to the Broker/Lawyer Committee, Education Advisory Group, and Vendor Advisory Group. Kate also holds the CIPS and RCE designations.

Kate resides in the western suburbs with her husband Jeff, daughters Norah and Ellen, and their adorable, but crazy, dog Ivy. Kate’s hobbies include laughing, sewing, and defending the Oxford comma.
